Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Ctrl/Alt (Control Alterations), the software at control-alt.com that tailors and alteration shops use to run bookings, intake, garments, measurements, invoices and client communication. “We” means Ctrl/Alt; “you” means the business that creates a shop and the people it invites.

Your account and your team

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. You're responsible for who you invite to your shop and the role you give them, and for keeping access to your email secure. Tell us at support@control-alt.com if you think someone has signed in without permission.

Free trial and subscription

New shops get a 30-day free trial with no card required. After that, Ctrl/Alt is a paid subscription, billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe, at the price shown when you subscribe. It renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time in Settings > Plan & billing; your shop keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, and we don't refund partial periods unless the law requires it.

If the trial ends without a subscription, or a payment fails and isn't fixed within 7 days, your studio becomes read-only and online booking pauses. Your data is not deleted, and you can still sign in, view and export it. Subscribing again turns everything back on. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before any price change applies to your subscription.

Card payments from your clients

If you take deposits or invoice payments by card, you connect your own Stripe account. Your clients pay you, not us: you are the seller, Stripe's standard fees apply, and payouts go to your bank on Stripe's schedule. Payment processing services for shops on Ctrl/Alt are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service. By connecting Stripe you agree to those terms and allow us to share information about you and your transactions with Stripe as needed to provide the service. Refunds, disputes and chargebacks on your payments are between you, your client and Stripe.

Your clients and your data

Everything you and your clients enter (client details, bookings, measurements, garments, invoices, messages) is your data. We store and process it to run the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy, and we don't sell it. You can export it as CSV at any time.

You're responsible for having the right to collect and use your clients' information, for your own client-facing policies (cancellations, deposits, adjustments), and for any consent you need before contacting clients. Ctrl/Alt sends booking emails, reminders and receipts for your shop from our sending domain with your shop's name.

Acceptable use

Don't use Ctrl/Alt for anything unlawful, to send spam, to collect information you aren't allowed to collect, or to interfere with the service or other shops. Don't try to access another shop's data. We may suspend a shop that breaks these rules or puts other shops, clients or the service at risk, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

Ending your account

You can stop using Ctrl/Alt at any time. Export anything you want to keep first. If you ask us to close your shop, or it stays unpaid for an extended period, we may delete its data after giving you notice by email and a chance to export it.

The service

We work to keep Ctrl/Alt available and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or bookings, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms as the service changes. If a change matters, we'll email shop owners before it takes effect. Continuing to use Ctrl/Alt after that means you accept the new terms.
